Information from Gaithersburg Book Festival
Collingswood Book Festival
The Collingswood Book Festival is a street festival held each year in Collinswood, NJ. MBPA has exhibited at the festival for the last few years, and found it to be worthwhile. The Collingswood Book Festival will be held Saturday October 6th from 10 am to 4pm.
We will be exhibiting books and distributing catalogs. We did not reserve a separate tent for author signings, because the cost of booths at the festival is so low ($25) that we thought anyone attending the festival in person will want to get their own booth. However, if anyone is interested in attending in person, please contact lm.preston@yahoo.com and we'll discuss.
The deadline to register is September 20, and books must be received no later than September 23. If registering for more than one Fall show, you only need to send one copy of each book, and we can reuse it for multiple festivals.
Carlisle Celebrate the Book Festival
The Celebrate the Book Festival is an indoor book festival that will be held September 22 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and presented by the Friends of Bosler Memorial Library. MBPA has reserved a table to display member books and give out catalogs. Use this form to register for us to display your book on the MBPA table.
If any authors plan to attend the festival in person, we recommend that you reserve an author table directly from the festival. We evaluated the possibility of arranging a separate table for author signings as we have at other festivals, but because the Celebrate the Book Festival offers special rates for authors, we believe that it would be a better deal for authors who want to attend the festival in person to reserve their own table for the day. Authors can reserve 1/2 table for only $25 for the entire day. This low price is only available to authors; publishers would pay $100 for a table for the day. The festival is indoors and provides tables, so very little setup will be required.
To reserve your own table at the booth, go to http://www.celebratethebook.org/ See below for the deadline to register with MBPA to display your books at our table.
Authors reserving a table can request on the form to be near the MidAtlantic Book Publishers Association booth if you want, and the festival will do their best to honor such requests. Two authors reserving a half table can also request to be placed together. This is a good opportunity for authors with complementary books to co-market their books. If you'd like to find a compatible author to share a table with, you can post on our Discussion forum.
If you would like to display your books at the MBPA table:

The deadline to register to display your books at the MBPA table is September 12, and books must be received by September 14.
Other Regional Book Festivals
MBPA will be exhibiting member books at the following Fall festivals:
- New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association (NAIBA) show
Information and registration will be coming soon.
Our
Discussion Forum contains a new list of other regional consumer street festivals and book fairs. MBPA finances won't permit us to represent the group at all of these, but your board is monitoring the discussion (and our email) to see if there is strong member interest in any of these other exhibit opportunities. If so, we may consider having a presence there, so speak up and let us know where you'd like to be! And if it turns out we just can't make it to a show you'd really like to be at, there's no reason you can't team up with a few of our other members to reserve a booth for yourselves to try out the show. Any reports we receive of high performance in sales, reader interest or both will garner serious attention from us in deciding our show participation commitment for next year.
